Wishes aren't dandelion wisps that you blow gently with pursed lips and eyes full of stars. Wishes are the rope in the pit of your stomach pouring out of your mouth that you grit against with your teeth as it rips each one out.  Wishes are the bloody pulp you spit out when you finally unclench and the rope falls.
